Danny “Hammer” Martin Jr. was born in Sarasota, Florida, attends high-school, and still lives in Sarasota with his parents, Karen and Danny “Sledge Hammer” Martin Sr. In 2000, at age 14, though too young for a driver’s license, Hammer hit the track. By 2003 he was crowned Young Gun Champion at the Sprint Car Winter Nationals, set a couple of track records, and won nearly a dozen feature events across the country.
